Shannon was born at 23 weeks gestation and weighed only 1 pound 7 oz. She was hospitalized for five month, and this experience itself is a concern for developmental delays. She is now 12 months of age chronologically, and 9 months developmentally. Shannon’s areas of concern are her visual impairment as well as developmental delays in motor, cognitive, communication and social and emotional areas. Shannon appears to be in the neonate stage of development regardless of her chronological and developmental age; due to her under developed respiratory system, digestive system, cognitive, communication and motor system. Regarding communication, receptive language is an area of concern; I would say Shannon although 9 months developmental age is functioning at a developmental age of 3-5 months in this area: turning her head to sounds and watching faces of a speaker. Shannon has shown receptive communication for example; the sound of a rattle which Beth places in her hand and helped shake. Evidence of developmental stage in the 3-5 month range from the case study; â€Å"Shannon turned her head away from the window and toward Beth† and Shannon’s attempt to maintain focus on Beth’s face. Second area of concern is fine motor; Shannon is at1-2 month developmental age evident through the fact that she can hold a grasp on an object, but cannot release it voluntarily. The introduction of international trade throughout the continent provided the Americas with goods once thought unattainable. Different trade routes began to stem from the original triangle route. All of these routes had one goal; to transport the goods in high demand in the most time and cost efficient way. The different branches were trading systems between the America’s, Europe, and Africa. Through these routes, captains traded goods and services such as slaves, sugar, tobacco, cotton, textiles, and many other manufactured goods. One history changing route was the Middle Passage. The course of this route was used to transport kidnapped Africans so they could be enslaved in the Americas. As the ship rocked, so did the â€Å"cargo† of slaves. Zamba Xembola, a prince turned captive slave, recounts his encounter as an onlooker to the slave transportation by saying, â€Å"The poor slaves below†¦were mostly thrown to the side, where they lay heaped on top of each other†¦fifteen of [the slaves] were smothered† (Document D). The Andrews government stated an immediate intervention, which resulted in 24 hours strike of workers and a threat of lock out by its entire workers at the company. According to Industrial relations minister that is Natalie Hutchins, this has resulted into threat to wellbeing of the Victorians and economy and would affect their livelihood also. For solving this uncertain dispute regarding the company, the Andrew government has launched an application in commission of fair work so to discontinue the actions of the company and workers. The AGL has maintained the employee benefits and livelihood of Victorias population, with no forced employment. However the AGL, it has restrained the right of workers for lock out to not to affect energy supplies at Victoria. This has forced the state government to intervene in such dispute of not taking any industrial action, to safe the workers and to safeguard the livelihood of Victorias population (Guzman, 2016). By reading the whole analysis over Loy yang A it can be said that the company has shown lack of responsibility, and this has impacted on the Latrobe valley community at a giant level. The directors have predicted that the threat of this dispute is on prices of electricity. This hike is due to effect of shut down of power station of Hazelwood in March 2017. According to the company directors, the agreement which lays the rules and regulations regarding pay and conditions will be terminated in December month. However the directors of the company are planning to make some changes in the pay rates of the company (Shanahan, 2016). The given editorial is against the strikes of its workers. According to AGL the strike of workman will put the workers at risk and would lead to major reduction in generation of power units. However the action minister of Industrial relations that is Jacinta Allan, this would not result in any impact on power supplies of Christmas day. According to the general manager of the company that is Steve Rieniets, the workers safety claims are compromised but at the same time the new model would lead to increase in productivity and efficiency of the company. besides this it would also results into company viability. Ishmael And Maya Angelou There are many different views on how people should live our lives. All of these different philosophies come from many different places. They come from religions, people's cultures, and their morals that they have been taught. People live by these rules they were brought into from the day they are born and do not question them. In A Rock, A River, A Tree, by Maya Angelou and Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn, both attempt to show how humans should live their lives and survive in a community. There way of changing the world is to convince readers to stand up and speak out about how to save the world. Daniel Quinn specificly helps readers to see that our lives are governed by matured laws that humans refuse to acknowledge-- this causing their, our destruction. In Ishmael Daniel Quinn sets the idea of having to think differently by having the book being told my a man who's teacher is a talking Gorilla. The Gorilla's name is ironicly Ishmael. Ishmael teaches captivity which he has been in his whole life and has mastered. As a Gorilla he has a totally different view on the world. He states in many ways that he believes that we must stand up for saving the world. In the beginning of the book Ishmael is talking about Germany before and during World War Two. He talks about how everyone followed the story if they believed in it or not because the people around you made you captive by the story by believing in it. Behind that story is another one the makes your mind think that maybe if that one person did stand a few people would realize that it was wrong and stand up too, and maybe the WWII or the holocaust would have never happened. Later in the book they are working on why people are knowingly destroying the world and doing nothing about it. Ishmael tries to explain that they try not think too searchingly about the world they're leaving their children to cope with. He says that they are pacified about the subject. This is Quinn's way of using a scare tactic on the readers, to make us believe we are brain washed and need to rebel. Later in the book there is another story about how men kept jumping off from the edge of a cliff with a flying contraption, believing it will work all the way up until they hit the ground, think in the way that they made it this far without a scratch. On this pilot's way down he sees many other abandoned flying machines. If all the past pilots spoke up to what had happened to them, then maybe they would all be flying by the process of trial and error. Through out the whole bo book Quinn is throwing in small stories that make you think what would have went differently if one person stood up for what they really thought, or did. A poem A Rock, A River, A Tree was written by Maya Angelou. In the poem she writes Come, you may stand upon my back and face your destiny, But seek no haven in my shadow, I will give you no more hiding place down here In this quote she is saying that people have to stand up in what you believe in even if it doesn't work and human kind ends up looking into future which is the end of the world. It says that humans will gain nothing by standing back and hiding from the world, but by trying there is a chance even if it is such a small chance but the more people that stand up the more the chance gets smaller. The poem goes on to talk about how humans have only been created a little lower than The angels and have played ignorant for to long. Its time that people stand up and learn how to stop the evils of the world and fix what they have already done.
